busy days!...evry now and then footprint !

apologies for not keeping up with the daily footprint...never could keep up with resolutions! Have been busy painting for Southwold Gallery and making new blocks for my coming show at Crooked House ,Lavenham. The block below is now cut and collaged and just needs to be sealed with button polish ready for printing

The street scene above has taken ages to draw out but is now waiting to be cut. I am hoping it will be part of an arrangement that will have three smaller arched blocks above it...all will become clear later !

every now and then footprint!..exciting news!

Ihave just received a copy of this new excellent printmaking book full of inspirational work and advice.BUT also I am chuffed to bits to have been included as an example at the back of the book!!! You can see a very poor reproduction of my page below.(Apologies for the poor photograph!)
There is also an excellent page on Rita Kearton and her lovely work ( fellow Norwich Print Fairite !) well worth a look ,as always!

the daily footprint -day 8 ...oh dear! and 9-... !

have spent the day experimenting with card packaging....and very enjoyable it was too !
Apologies for the poor photography ! I'm busy making collections of cards to put into my "the jolly footprint store" store on www.folksy.com and www.etsy.com . I think eventually I will look into boxing the cards but as yet have n't found a supplier with the appropriate size .

the daily footprint -day 7-..remembered footprint !

Sorry folks! Footprint today should be of my fire as feeling poorly !!! So footprint today will be of one of my annual walks with one of my favourite companions!
She is sitting by Lochindorb in the Cairngorms. One of the quietest, most atmospheric places I know...and one day will make a very textural collagraph block( excluding the lab !)

a quote given by a fellow printmaker/philosopher !

"Always look ahead -there are no regrets in that direction"

so I am not going to dwell on the disorganisation and creative disasters or opportunities missed of 2010...2011 here I come !!!!
AND I am going to finish my book....please meet the stars "Fred and his lovely wife Doris"

the daily footprint -day 5-technology trials !

spent the day making cards for the Crooked House Gallery, lots of hares  which will also be appearing in folksy/etsy shops shortly ! Very trying as my new super- duper printer was not performing then I realised all would have been well if I'd read the instruction manual first !!! I will never learn ...!

the daily footprint -day 4-the logo lament !

funny day!
spent the morning painting a Crooked House hares print but ran out of steam so decided to at last get around to making a logo for the back of my cards!
Here is the sketch for a small print block, wanted to use the original drawing but looks a bit scruffy! Definitely more work needed !!!! Hey ho !

the daily footprint -day 3 1/2 !

well after a somewhat depressing walk re.trees in the morning ...a cheery afternoon was had by all!

Off to Thorpeness to see a flock of white fronted geese on the North Warren marshes. Beautiful sunset, wonderful sounds of geese conversations with the house in the clouds in the distance!(If you look very hard!) A new block in the making!

the daily footprint ...day 3

in the spirit of doom and gloom of the Archers here is a goodbye to those two lovely trees mentioned on day 2 !
It is incredible how rotten one was inside but the shapes and colours are beautiful .
Most sad is the way these trees were obviously planted in pairs along the country lane but there are no new plantings to replace these...how different are landscape will look in fifty years from now...gloom over back to studio days tomorrow!

the daily footprint-day 2

a collection of trees!
another resolution is to record  and treasure the beautiful trees in my area...both as a resource (I'm planning lots of woodland hare prints) but also because I am very aware of their  fragile nature...two recently had to be felled because they had rotted inside. ( the remnants of one can be seen in the top pic)
so here are my images for day 2 !

The New Year is here!

Happy New Year to everyone who finds me here!
Let me introduce you to one of my New Year's resolutions (one of many!!!) which I will try my hardest to keep...
the daily footprint
this will be a photo/image/ words /thought or something that has caught my eye during the day...
so here is no.1 !

this is a ford that crosses the lane where I walk the dog . It always makes me smile to see the markers up to 6ft ! Would love to see it that deep ...but then if it was I would be under water and so would most of Suffolk I would imagine!!!
